The Cambodians endured Genocide during the Khmer Rouge and Pol Pot era (1975-1979), resulting in 2 million deaths or 25% of the population. Every family lost at least one member. Today, 65% of the population is under the age of 25 years. The poverty is widespread and yet, being very proud, the Cambodians do whatever it takes to make ends meet.

Although the government is attempting to improve the country, there is much needed, especially in the realms of health and education. Families in the rural areas earn less than $2 per day and cannot afford to build water wells or send their children to school. Each child needs to provide their own school supplies and uniforms and the teachers work double sessions for meager pay.

 
 
 
Cambodian Child's Dream Organization founded by Mr Panha Ou who is committed to giving back to his community. The children in the rural area of Siem Reap have nothing but dreams. They are the future of the country and clean water and education are imperative as a basic human necessity.
